Diversity Motor Sports, LLC comprised of individuals from around the country including Kosciusko County resident Kevin Anderson, has started a NASCAR & Sponsors: Minority Youth Matters Movement.

In a press release issued Tuesday, June 30, MYMM is a movement which has a national platform and a national voice for a common cause. The group is comprised of well informed consumers, a network of minority community leaders, families, civic groups, students, teachers, organizations and faith based communities. Their goal is to bring about awareness that 50 percent of all revenue generated in America comes from minority communities. These communities buy services and goods from companies supporting and sponsoring NASCAR, yet have no major presence anywhere in NASCAR.

The group believes this has to change.

MYMM is made up of Hispanics, African Americans, Asians and all the minorities that do not have a presence in NASCAR. The group has set up a Facebook page to reveal further information on NASCAR and sponsors. More information is also available by contacting nsbkmm@gmail.com.

Terrence Cox III, chief executive officer of Diversity Motor Sports, LLC., started the movement to bring the awareness, of the “injustice how the money is handled when it gets to the other side of the track.” A minority himself in the organization, has approximately 900 youth involved.

“Where is the presence of minorities next to the sponsors?” said Cox, noting 50 percent of the revenue generated in NASCAR comes from minorities.

Events are already in place to bring more awareness to MYMM.

On Thursday, July 2, at the Daytona track, youth will silently stand holding NASCAR & Sponsors: Minority Youth Matters Movement signs. At the same time in Harlem, N.Y., the Harlem Transformation Organization along with 10 other organizations and civic leaders, will hold signs.

Another silent awareness will be on Wednesday, July 8, at the Kentucky track. A gospel event is also being planned in the future in Chicago, Ill.

Cox stated by phone today, Wednesday, July 1, there are leaders from across the United States, from east coast to west coast, northern border to southern border, who are involved.
